Welcome to Limerick Flying Club

We are a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) based at Coonagh Aerodrome (EICN) on the outskirts of Limerick in Ireland. For more than 5 decades, we have provided facilities in Limerick for licensed pilots practicing their hobby, and new pilots undergoing training. The club is run by our enthusiastic membership who volunteer their time in maintaining these facilities.

The club hosted it's annual social night at Coonagh last night. Regrettably there was no fly-in to coincide with the event.

Highlight of the evening was the presentation of wings by CFI David Ward to our newest PPL's over the past several months. Photo shows new PPL's David O'Connor, Niall George and Shane Whyte after the wings ceremony. We wish all three of them many years of safe flying. Well done again guys from everyone in the club.

Tecnam memories at Coonagh:

This weekend marks five years since we took delivery of our third Tecnam P2002JF when we bought EI-WFD from Waterford Aero Club. It was something we had ruminated about in advance of making the decision. Would we have the demand for a third Tecnam?

In spite of the challenges of COVID, five years on with nearly 1,100 hours flown on it, with similar hours over five years on EI-LFC (delivered July 2007 from Capua, by Brendan Beegan and the late John Keane) and EI-JPK (delivered July 2008 by Gerry Humphreys), the decision has been more than justified. This is down to the enthusiasm and support of our members.

Photo shows then club chairman Mark Burkley, then CFI David Fielding, Paul Keane and Harry McNamara after the delivery flight of EI-WFD from Waterford to Coonagh on 27th July 2019.
