Spring and hopefully summer are in the air. It is a good time of year to take a friend flying especially one who might get the bug and take it up themselves.

Below is a link to a very good article dealing with how you might deal with an inexperienced flyer - such as a friend or family member - as you introduce them to the joys of flight.

The article has been disseminated by EAA through one of their regular Ezines.

In 2008 we established the Airfield Development Fund. To date between tax qualified donations and the members draw we have raised over 35k. These funds are held in a separately designated account.

Obviously the collapse of the construction industry and the property market in general has for now deferred the clubs departure from Coonagh. In truth no one has any idea what might happen and when. However that day will surely come.

We are therefore reactiviating the appeal with immediate effect. In the next newsletter I will include a detailed article on the appeal and the methodology for making a contribution. However where members are self employed they will be invited to make a donation as heretofore of 480 euro while those who are in employments are asked to make a donation of 280 euro which will be topped by your marginal tax rate by the Revenue Commissioners.

I will try and arrange to post the relevent forms to the site over the next few weeks.

In 2008 a significant number of the clubs members made a donation. There are many new members in the club who might wish to help the cause at this stage. Equally there is no restricion on previous donors making a new donation. All contributions are in total confidence known only to me as fund chairman, Finian as treasurer and also by our auditor. Thank you in anticipation of your renewed support.

Kind regards

HARRY

This has been posted on our site on behalf of WAC, SNW.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to inform as many as possible in the general aviation community
that Waterford Aero Club will hold a breakfast fly in on Sunday, August 29th next
from 10am onwards, and we would like to welcome as many as possible, as we have
equally been made extremely welcome at fly in events over the years.

Information can be obtained from www.waterfordaeroclub.com, and if you cannot
attend yourself, it would be appreciated if you could post the attached poster
on a noticeboard at your club.
And should you ever find yourselves visiting Waterford Airport,
feel free to call into the clubhouse.

Thank you, and fly safe!

Many of you do not know that this year 2010
marks the centeniary date of the first powered
flight in Ireland, in August 1910.

To mark the occasion and celebrate all the Irish
achivements in the meantime Atlantic Airventure
in Shannon are planning an event and fun filled
weekend on 27/28 August 2010.

It will be very worthwhile to attend this event and
taste the achievements of Irish Aviation in the
past and of course also view and share in the
great vision for the advancement of Irish Aviation
that is happening before our eyes in the Shannon
plant, at the site of the old Tom Hogan Motors.

Cheers SNW.

All club members are requested to complete the "Due Dates" for any renewals relating to their Pilot Licence (Medical; PPL re-issue; SEP Rating etc.) as soon as possible, using the online system.

This can be done by clicking on the "Limerick Flying Club" tab to the right of the "Calendar" tab when you first log in and then clicking on the "Renewals" tab, 3rd from left on the row of options below. To add a renewal date reminder for yourself, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select the various options and dates that apply to you and click "Add This Member Renewal".

Your various renewal dates will then appear when you log in, as a reminder of your upcoming renewal, between 1 and 60 days BEFORE the actual rating/medical/licence runs out. Your individual renewal messages will only be visible to you, the member and system administrators, when the renewal is within the reminder period that you have set on the system - (recomended minimum: 28 days).

It is envisaged that all members will have completed their self certification of due dates on the system by the end of March 2010. This feature will help the club, and individual members, maintain the high levels of safety and compliance which form part of our safety and due diligence remit with the Irish Aviation Authority.

With thanks for your co-operation, LFC Committee.
